Area Sheet Metal was established in 1971 by Dave and Dottie Leonard in Hobart, Indiana. In the beginning, the business focused on HVAC in residential and light commercial work. Dave set up shop in the family garage with one employee, while Dottie handled the accounting duties. The company now employs on average 60 employees working in over 50,000 sq. ft. of fabricating and office space. The Leonard’s sons, John and David, represent the second generation working in the family-owned business. The company has been fortunate to employ talented and loyal workers, many of whom have stayed with the company for 35+ years with over a 20 year average tenure. A dedicated work ethic and a commitment to safety, quality artistry and service have contributed to the company’s now over 50 years in business.
